In the TATA IPL Point Table, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have risen to the top slot, knocking Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans down to second and third, respectively, with a total of 6 points.
The 15th version of the Indian Premier League (IPL) began on March 26, 2022. The eight existing teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) welcomed two new franchises, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, making it a 10-team tournament. The IPL 2022 season included 70 league matches followed by four knockout games.
The entire IPL 2022 tournament was held in Mumbai and Pune, with three stadiums in Mumbai: Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, and Brabourne CCI Stadium, and Pune’s MCA Stadium being used for the matches.
In the league stage, the top four groups qualified for the playoffs, with the net run rate being an essential factor, along with total points gained. The third and fourth teams played the eliminator, and the loser was eliminated. The winner of the eliminator and the losing team in the qualifier played the second eliminator (Qualifier 2). The winners faced off against the winners from the first Qualifier (Team 1 vs. Team 2) in the finals.
The final match of the IPL 2022 tournament was held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 22, 2022.
IPL Venue 2022
IPL 2022 was expected to proceed smoothly and take place exclusively in India. However, if COVID-19 had become a concern, the BCCI would have traditionally considered the UAE a preferred alternative location for organizing IPL and other major tournaments.

IPL Format 2022
The format for IPL 2022 is set to resemble that of IPL 2011, with all ten teams being split into two groups. Each team will compete against the others in their group twice and play against the teams in the other group once. Furthermore, each team will play one other match that will be determined by a draw, resulting in 14 league matches per team. There will be two qualifiers, one eliminator, and a final for 74 games in the IPL 2022 season.
IPL Points Table 2022
The statement implies that in IPL 2022, the top four teams with at least 16 points will qualify for the playoffs. It also suggests that the Gujarat Titans have already trained as the first team for the playoffs, and the Lucknow Super Giants have also qualified as the second team.
The teams have been divided into two groups of five each, with Mumbai Indians leading Group A and Chennai Super Kings leading Group B. The league phase will consist of each team playing every other team in their group twice, along with one match against each team in the other group. This amounts to a total of 14 games per team. After the league phase, there will be three playoffs and a final. Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title five times, while Chennai Super Kings have won it four times. KKR has won twice, and Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals have won once each. The IPL began in 2008, and the now-defunct Deccan Chargers won the first season.

What is NRR in IPL Standings?
NRR is an acronym for Net Run Rate, calculated by subtracting the team’s run rate against them from their run rate during the IPL season. The unit benefits from having a higher NRR.
What is the minimum number of points required to be eligible in the IPL Points Table?
There isn’t a specific point threshold for advancing to the Playoffs stage. Instead, a team must rank within the top four on the points table to progress to the next round.
IPL Points Table 2022 Rules
The goal for every team in the IPL is to secure one of the top four spots in the points table, with the added benefit of aiming for the top two spots to increase the chance of reaching the IPL Finals.
The IPL standings are determined based on the number of points each team earns, with tiebreakers resolved by looking at the Net Run Rate (NRR). The rules for gaining points in the 2022 TATA IPL point table are as follows:
- Two points are awarded for a win
- One point is given for a game that is abandoned or ends with No Result
- Zero points are given for a loss
The NRR is a crucial factor in the IPL standings, particularly when multiple teams have the same number of points. It is determined by separating the number of runs scored by the group by the number of overs faced and then dividing the number of runs conceded by the team by the number of overs bowled in the same tournament.
